Congratulations to Lebohang Motshweneng on being awarded Karate Protea Colours.

Lebo is a true karate champion on and off the karate floor. He is passionate about karate and always trains to the best of his ability, and is a true inspiration to his fellow karateka.
Lebo will now travel to Croatia with the South African Karate Team to take part in the World Youth Championships (all styles).
We wish him every success at this event.  We know that Lebo will make us proud!!

Two other wonderful karate champions from Dukas Karate Institute were also awarded Protea Colours and will also be competing in Croatia. Wenette Jordaan and Brandon Shepherd. We are just as proud of these two super karateka.  Good luck to Wenette and Brandon. We wish you every success at the championships

On the 25th November 2014, members of Karateka Saldanha took part in the annual Rittle Champs. The annual Rittle Champs is organized by Langebaan Karate Centre headed by Sensei Jan Marx. At the 2014 champs Tiaan Van Rhyn, Vicky Bruwer, Thalia Mason, Ilke Muller, Oreal Lawrence and Taneca Muller all took part in various items, ranging from katas to kumite and brought back 28 medals (11 gold, 11 silver and 6 bronze). Our “thank you” is tendered to Sensei Jan and Langebaan Karate Centre for setting up another well-run event.

Ian Liebenberg Sensei heads the dojo with the able assistance of Tyrel Flugl Sensei. Karateka Saldanha is a community engagement project and affiliated to WSKF.

A very successful National Gasshuku was held in February 2014.

The venue for this year’s Gasshuku was once again the beautiful West Coast National Park.The group of karateka and their partners from Gauteng travelled to the Cape by train.

This proved to be a great idea with lots of fun on the way. The group got a chance to get to know each

other in a more social way during the trip which started in Potchefstroom and ended in Wellington.

A bus was there (organised by Jan Sensei) to take the group to the venue.

The training started early in the morning (if fact before the sun was up!!) and continued throughout the day.

The training was very intense with a lot of information passed on by the various instructors.

Thanks to all instructors for their valued input.

Junior members from the Langebaan dojo joined the seniors for a training session on Saturday morning

and the group all enjoyed lunch together before the youngsters went back home.

During the day time was also allocated to discuss the WSKF S.A. Constitution and the Technical Manual.

Theanora Brand from the Langebaan Dojo also had the opportunity of grading for her Shodan at this event.

Congratulations to Theanora on attaining your Shodan grading.

A special word of thanks must go to Jan Sensei and his members from Langebaan for the wonderful hospitality afforded

the group. The accommodation was super, the food was delicious and all the arrangements could not have been better.
